Exercise Physiology Degrees, Courses and Programs

How the body’s systems respond and adapt to exercise, and how exercise is used to manage health conditions.

What is exercise physiology?

Exercise physiology is the detailed study of the body’s acute responses and long-term adaptations to exercise. As a science it underpins sport science and exercise science. As a profession, in some countries (Australia is a prominent example), accredited exercise physiologists are allied-health practitioners who prescribe exercise for people with chronic conditions.

Degrees in this area include science-based bachelor’s degrees, professionally accredited undergraduate and master’s programs, and research degrees. The accreditation status can decide whether a graduate may register with a professional association, so it is recorded wherever the accrediting body publishes it.

In other countries the same title may be unregulated or used for a research specialism, so the program’s stated purpose matters.

Typical topics: Cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, Muscle metabolism, Exercise prescription, Chronic disease and exercise, Environmental physiology, Laboratory testing.

Also called: Clinical exercise physiology, Exercise and sport physiology. These names lead to this one page.

From study to professional practice

Where an accrediting body lists a program, we show that listing with its source. Without it, a degree is academic study and does not by itself carry professional registration.

Results are listed alphabetically. There is no price ranking: prices in different currencies and bases (per week, per camp, per term, per year) are not comparable. Missing details (tuition, admissions, accommodation) never remove a verified listing. Training programs closed to the public are shown only when you ask for them. Online programs are never counted as physically located in a state or city. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change recognition status, verification or order.
